I don't want to compete, can I take the class?

Everyone is welcomed to class, it does not matter if you are currently planning to compete or not, many people change their minds at a later date. All classes are taught as though you and you dog are going to compete.

What is your training style:

All training is done using positive training methods. Food and toys are used in all levels of classes. Agility is a FUN dog sport. It is not life or death. It is also not what your dog was bred to do. Because of this rewards must be given, praise only is not enough. Find something that motivates your dog.

Requirements to take classes:

How old does my dog have to be?

Dogs need to be a minimum of 1 years old for regular classes. Younger dogs allowed if in puppy class. For starting puppies see our resources page.

Can my child take the class?

Handlers must be at least 16 yrs old. Junior handlers 12-16 yrs old must be accompanied by an adult.

What does the dog have to know?

Must have basic obedience (sit, down, come, recall, etc).

My dog sometimes "acts" out, can my dog still be in the class?

My dog sometimes gets defensive, can my dog still be in the class?

NO aggressive dogs. Handler must have and be able to control the dog. Dogs must allow others to handle them.

What do I need to bring to class?

Please bring a buckle collar, 6 foot leash, soft treats and a toy that your dog likes. For yourselves, wear running shoes, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

You must have a liablity form on file. You should print out and complete the liability form. Then bring the completed form to class. Liability form for the Crocker Animal Hospital in San Jose.
